Halfway through Project Mending Sky: Us, a SOTA student went around asking: “Can you see the elephant?”
You are tempted to retort, “No, not really”. But you give it another shot. In the deepening dusk, you train your makeshift “viewfinder” on the foliage. And against the dying light, you finally see it—a silhouette of the magnificent animal. It’s all in your mind, but it’s amazing all the same.
That kinda encapsulates what I love about Drama Box’s ongoing site-specific show. You’re at the old Bukit Timah Railway Station, presumably in search of the elusive legendary Monkey Man—supposedly last seen in 2007 by a domestic helper who captured it on her HP while jogging(!?)—and you find other things to treasure.
