Gearing up for Idolhood!

Posted at 11:58 pm under Uncategorized

After weeks of anticipation, it’s finally down to the top two, and, by Dec 27, we’ll have a new Singapore Idol! The finals will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, where Sylvia and Sezairi will be going head to head!

GRAND FINALE 2

How are our Idol contenders getting ready for their big day?

Sezairi figures that the best preparations he can make is to ensure that he’s well-rested, so his strategy is to not practice! “In the six months, we’d never really gotten a full stretch of rest. So I guess I’ve just been mentally psyching myself up. I haven’t been physically practising but I’ve been trying to rest as much as possible, because I know if I try to force it out of myself I’ll get sick. I’ve just been trying to come up with ideas on how I want to present my performance; how I want it to be, visually and aurally as well.”

He’s not being complacent, though. He’s actually really nervous about the big show. “It’s, like, the-first-time-you’re-doing-something-big kind of nervous. It’s probably the biggest thing I’ve ever done! I guess it all comes down to how bad I want this. I want it reeeaaally bad. You know I haven’t really been convincing the public that I deserve to be here, at least not in my opinion. But I think that this is my one shot to prove it all, so I’m going to have to do it. Given a big stage and better sound, a live band, dancers and all that kind of stuff, I think I have a lot more options to make the performance a lot more exciting. I can’t wait to stand on stage with bright lights and an endless sea of heads. That’s been my dream, to perform to thousands of people and they’re all singing along with you. It’s going to be really awesome; I can’t wait for that.”

Well, we know that right before the show, he’s going to be steadfastly not talking to anyone, and downing sour plum juice. “I don’t talk to anyone an hour before the show,” Sezairi once told us. “I don’t know if it’s the natural focus or if it’s the nerves, that I just don’t want to think about anything.” His secret weapon: “I have my bottle of plum juice. I have a bad gag reflex. So every time before I go on stage, when my nerves are acting up, I start gagging. Most of the time nothing comes out!” It’s sour plum to the rescue!

And what about Sylvia? Find out here next week.
