Visit from Christ Church Secondary School

Posted at 11:00 pm under Uncategorized

Just as we were finishing our lunch today, there was a knock on our dining tent door. To our pleasant surprise, we found ourselves face to face with students and teachers from Christ Church Secondary School! They had come a long way, beginning their journey from Gorak Shep to visit us. The students and teachers were in good spirits as we hosted them in our dining tent. This journey was meant to inspire and instill confidence in the students and as a gesture of encouragement to the team.

We were immensely touched and inspired by their visit. Each of the students adopted a member of the team as a mentor, and we were presented with littles notes they wrote for us throughout their journey here. We were very encouraged by this and impressed by the strength and perseverance they have displayed in making their way here. Their notes were written on song sheets which contained songs we’ve learnt as students in Singapore. They said that this was their little way of reminding us of Singapore, but to us, their presence has already brought ‘home’ to us, right here in the Himalayas. Hi,
Even though it was vicarious experience via your blog, your intensity, focus and determination hearten this retiree, and serve as a telling reminder to most Singaporeans the human spirit to overcome adversities, however daunting and exhausting, is resident in our magnificent 6.
I am sure many back home are praying for you and urging you on in the grueling days ahead.
Kudos to the teachers and pupils of CCSS for their magnificent gesture and sterling efforts to touch base with all of you. It was surely a heart-warming gesture, which would add fire to your belly and steel in your heart as you continue your quest.
You exemplify the spirit of adventure, the intensity of purpose, the single-mindedness of worker bees and the resolute courage of pit-bulls.
I will accompany you in spirit as you brave the awesome hurdles nature throw your way in the coming days. That is the least anyone could do by way of motivation, encouragement and support.
I eagerly await your next report.
    Cheers.
