It’s the pioneering spirit of the modern Singapore women whom we all must laud.

Of course this was matched by sheer grit, intense and methodical preparation, determination, focus and a never-say-die spirit.

Congratulations to Lee Hui, Esther Tan and Jane Lee who have successfully scaled the summit this morning.

We wait excitedly for the second team of Yi Hui, Peh Gee and Joanne to follow in like fashion very soon.

We have demonstrated to the World that we can and do punch far above our size and weight when we set our aim high and pursue the target assiduously, tenaciously and single mindedly.

I propose a national award to be accorded to these heroines in recognition of their stupendous feat.
