NATAS-SWET Placed Two More Members on Everest Summit

On 22 May 2009, the NATAS Singapore Women’s Everest Team added to their historic success by placing two more members on the summit of Mt Everest, the highest peak on earth at 8850m. Joanne Soo age 39 and Lee Peh Gee age 32 reached the top of the world at 5.31am and 5.56am respectively – Nepal time. The two girls are making their way back to camp 4.
 
Jane Lee and Lee Lihui have arrived back at Everest Base Camp yesterday afternoon while Esther Tan is scheduled to be back later today. Look out for a more detailed press release from the Everest Base Camp.

    Wow! It\’s truly a groundbreaking feat for these 5 ladies to scale Mt Everest.
    Sim Yihui can take great comfort and satisfaction in the knowledge that she too would have made it to the summit saved for the chest pain which afflicted her before the final push.
    Singapore is tremendously proud of you gals.
    Your marvelous achievements give Singaporeans back home a sense of optimism: We could collectively overcome the severity of the present global downturn, just as you did all obstacles in your way, unrelentingly and with panache.
    The magnitude of your accomplishments should be the grist which could inspire and set aflame the thoughts and imagination of the rising generation.

    No fanfare just pure grit. Proud of you ladies! From the top of Everest you have done much more for women’s rights and causes in Singapore, then those that can only shout from the top of chairs! You have earn the respect of this male .
