SO THERE we were at the press conference at Disneyland in Hong Kong, when pop singer Kelly Chen steps out of the interview area – which was located in the Plaza Inn restaurant, which by the way has some nice dim sum if you ever go there – to prep for her next session when a fan hands her a baby and starts taking pictures of her.
Being the lovely lady that she is, she obliges – even when other fans, who don’t even know who the baby is, start cutting in on the action too. (And no, I wasn’t one of them – I tried, but I was turned away.) One even asked Kelly if that’s her baby, whereupon she hurriedly said, “nuh uh!” (Okay, she just shook her head.)
As it turns out though, Kelly didn’t need other people’s babies to kick in her maternal ways again. At the press con later she lets out this bombshell: She is pregnant again! Yes, she is three months gone – this time with twins! Okay, this information is probably only relevant to her diehard fans. But there you go…
Her first child Chace (like Chace Crawford!) turns two this year, so it’s actually pretty fast for the yummy mummy. When quizzed, she said that she hoped one of the twins would be a girl.
She also mentioned that this time she’s taking more precautions – like not wearing high heeled shoes. Until someone pointed out that her boots had high heels. Then she said, “I won’t wear these tomorrow”. Or something like that. My Cantonese isn’t great. Of course, she was speaking Mandarin, so there you go…
Earlier in the day, Kelly, looking lovely in a tan coat, and fellow Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee, looking tan, sang the new theme tune for Hong Kong Disneyland’s fifth year anniversary, complete with “pixie dust” - or confetti – and the host of Disney characters – from Mickey to Buzz Lightyear to Tinkerbell to the old man from Up – prancing onstage.
The pair were later handed a Golden Mickey each. Sure, it’s no Golden Horse award, but there you go…
But anyway, congratulations Kelly! Have a smooth pregnancy. Let us know if you need chicken essence, okay?
