Warpaint and The Cranberries back again

I FIRST interviewed The Cranberries in the mid-’90s in Christchurch, New Zealand. They were touring on the back of their third album, To The Faithful Departed. They were to hit Singapore after the NZ/Australia leg, but singer Dolores O’Riordan had an accident and the remaining gigs were cancelled.
(They eventually arrived, in a double-bill with a then-fledgling No Doubt.) And now, Hype has announced that the Irish foursome will be back in town on Aug 1.
If you’re one of those naysayers who sneer at bands going on reunion tours, all I have to say is Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? (geddit?)
Here are the details:
Date: Aug 1
Time: 8pm
Venue: Singapore Indoor Stadium
Tickets at S$198, S$168, S$138 and S$98 from Sistic (starting June 27)

Meanwhile, in case you still don’t know it yet, Warpaint, are also slated to make a return. A rather quick return, I must say, seeing as they were just here in January for the Laneway Festival. But you know what they say: You can’t keep a good all-girl band down, and they’re taking the stage a day after the Crannies, thanks to the guys from Chugg Entertainment (the same people who organised Laneway).
If you haven’t seen Warpaint in action, do yourself a favour and check them out on YouTube, or ask those who went to Laneway what they thought of their set.
Here are the details:
Date: Aug 2
Time: 8pm (doors open 7pm)
Venue: POWERHOUSE @ St James Power Station
Tickets at S$65 (includes 1 drink) from Sistic. Available now!
