Apparently, yes, as MediaCorp’s acting talent have shown that they too can be hits on the pop scene. Well, for the Chinese New Year period anyway, with the release of MediaCorp Lunar New Year Album 2012, the now-customary musical offering from your favourite stars.
The compilation album features Zoe Tay, Terence Cao, Guo Liang, Joanne Peh, Chen Hanwei, Vivian Lai and others, singing traditional New Year songs, has topped the sales charts in the festive album category. TS Digital Laser, which distributes the album, reported strong sales for the album in its outlets and credits it to new elements introduced in this year’s album. These include new songs such as 龙腾凤集万年红, 龙飞凤舞新年颂 and 新年歌儿大家唱, as well as the young stars like Edwin Goh, Ian Fang and Elizabeth Lee (of On The Fringe) taking the spotlight.
