Hong Kong singer Sandy Lam, along with Jacky Cheung, Faye Wong and the late Anita Mui, is an icon of Asian pop music, but she’d be the first to deny the use of that moniker. “I don’t think I am an icon,” she told us.
But that Sandy Lam, who’s now 45, and who still looks young and fit thanks to an exercise regimen that I probably ought to employ – it includes working out and yoga and aerobic activity, all of which I don’t do in copious amounts – can still command a sellout crowd, well, you could say that people don’t regard her as ”just another singer”.
At any rate, the lady was nicely chatty during our interview, and clearly keen about her gig here in Singapore. And yes, she’s just as short as I am.

Sandy Lam performs April 6, 8pm, Singapore Indoor Stadium. Tickets at S$88 to S$168 from Sistic. COMING SOON – check out her expurgated interview with us!
