The late post: Timbre Rock & Roots 2012?

SURE, if you look at the line-up of this year’s Timbre Rock & Roots music festival, there’s more roots music than rock music, but that didn’t stop 7,800 people from enjoying themselves. What with the likes of Keb’ Mo’, Hugo and The Specials making Singapore debuts. The return of two of my favourite performers, Trombone Shorty and Buddy Guy, and the incredible EWF. Oh, some cool performances by bands from around the region and Singapore, to wit, Checkpoint Jam, Bleu Rascals, and Andre Harihandoyo & Sonic People.
While I there are times when I think that reading about music doesn’t make any sense, there are times when I don’t. And there are times when I reading about music while thinking. And there are times when I don’t.
Luckily, photographers Aloysius Lim and Johnathan Wong were on hand to snap some snappy photos, so that I can share them with you now. And thus not have to carry on with that rather silly train of thought that appeared in the last paragraph.
Which just leaves me with nothing much else to say except thanks Timbre, for bringing us another weekend of cool music.

DAY ONE

The Bleu Rascals get down to it.

He's apparently angry at Timbre co-founder Danny Loong about something. Maybe it's the hat.

From the way Danny's looking, it's obviously the hat...

Guess who?

Kerraaanngg!

'E's looking a bit glum innit?

So's the guy on the left...

But he's not

Gratituous shot of female percussionists

Keb' Mo' showing off his holey guitar

Buddy Guy shows another use for a drum stick

Everybody needs a little yellow light sometimes...

DAY TWO

The Goodfellas take the stage

EWF say: Let's kick it!

You put a brass section in a crowd, and I always think of When The Saints Go Marching In

Hugo gasp for Hugo

An angle of Andre

A dash of Dasha

Gratituous shot of ... er, just a gratituous shot

Everybody needs a little blue light

A little glitz never hurt nobody

It's all about how high you can raise your trombone, Shorty
