SO a certain offspring of a certain Jean Yip, whom we shall call Cheryl Wee, because that’s her name, obviously, was recently in Thailand. Specifically Pattaya, where she was performing at the Pattaya International Music Festival 2012.
And we have the pictures to prove it!

Here she is, telling the crowd about the lovely dinner she had*.

Here she is, with a rather odd-looking dancer to her right.

And here she is, looking, well, like a doll ripe enough to eat**
At any rate, Cheryl is the latest in line of singers who want to make a name for themselves in the music industry. She recently released her album, One Fine Day - which contains four original tracks and six covers, including Stefanie Sun’s Encounter and Taiwanese rockers Mayday’s Contentment, and which will shortly be reviewed in the haloed pages of the TODAY newspaper – and that, of course, explains why she was in Pattaya.
And while she was there, she met this guy…

… who looks a bit like that bloke from CSI: Miami, but is actually called Rattapoom Tongkongsap, who’s an actor of some repute in Thailand. And she also met this bloke…

… whose real name is something I can’t pronounce, but whom everybody else calls Nickhun. Yes, he of 2PM fame. (No, that doesn’t me he only appears at two in the afternoon, yah?)
At any rate, this trip was Cheryl’s first big do outside of Singapore. And it’s been a bit of a trip for Cheryl who said in an interview that it was her aunt Dawn Yip who sparked her interest in music. And although her aunt taught her singing techniques, etc, it was apparently quite “stressful” for Cheryl, because her aunt was “really strict”. “Her standards are very, very high,” she quipped, before adding, “but I am very honoured to have her teach me.”
Will this be the start of a long and amazing journey? Only time, as Bob Marley once sang, will tell.
