Yes, fellow Poparazziacs,
If it’s music you’re looking for, you’ll not be short of it this weekend. From jazz to pop to acousticky folky type music, you’ll find that, as all the ads say, there’s something for everybody. My only gripe is that I’m not like that mutant from X-Men who can make duplicates of himself so that I can attend ALL of them.

- THE ANALOG GIRL promises to spark things up at the Ignite! Music Festival (see below)

Lymbyc System and Lite. This double bill features two progressive instrumental bands on the scene. Those in the know will be there. TONIGHT, 7.30pm, Home Club. Tickets $30 ($40 at the door) or from www.kittywurecords.com.
The Cotton Island featuring Eunice Keitan. Acoustic tunes from Taiwan’s David Lin and Canadian Eunice Keitan. Admittedly, I’ve not heard either performing live before , but going by what’s online, it sounds interesting. TONIGHT, 9pm, Going Om, 63 Haji Lane. Tickets $15 (at the door, includes one drink).
Free Gig At Blackhole. A free show featuring up and coming punk/hardcore bands like AmTerible, Stand Strong, Visitor and more. For those who like their music hard and fast. That’s right, I said “music”… TONIGHT, 8pm at Blackhole. Free leh.
Diversity. It’s as diverse as indie and post-hardcore. Featuring Trella (below), Dimensions, Avalanche and more. TOMORROW, 3.30pm, Blackhole, 212 Syed Alwi Road. Tickets at $10 at the door.

- TRELLA: Enjoying their silver lining

The Sound Of Music. The hills – or should we say the waterfront – comes alive with this celebration of some of the most memorable stage tunes. Performed by The Singapore Lyric Opera’s Children and Youth choirs . TOMORROW, 7.30pm, Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets start $18 from Sistic.
Shine Youth Festival Launch. This month-long festival kicks off tomorrow. Catch J-rock bands, K-pop acts, street dance and other activities. TOMORROW, Noon onwards, *Scape, Youth Park and Youth Centre.
Open Doors.Orchard Road becomes a gig venue! Well, Orchard Central to be more precious. They’re having a “Carnival Market” but for me, the main reason to go will be because The Pinholes (below, possibly the coolest band in Singapore today ever to sing a P Ramlee song) , Michelle Magnaye and Lovejets will be performing. TOMORROW and Sunday, Orchard Central.

- THE PINHOLES: It’s all about rock ‘n’ roll, baby
Ignite! Music Festival 2010. Republic Polytechnic’s annual music do is back, with this must-see line-up featuring B-Quartet, The Marilyns, The Analog Girl, Plainsunset, Meza Virs, Zero Sequence, Pervy Boy, the guys from TMA (that’s Timbre Music Academy and not Too Much Amplification) and that’s not even scratching the surface, because there’s more stuff happening. And it’s free! (Don’t forget to bring your rain gear though.) Today and tomorrow, Republic Polytechnic Lawn. Free.
Singapore Wine & Jazz Festival 2010. It’s jazz music. And wine. And food. I mean, what’s there not to like? (Er, unless you don’t like jazz or wine or food, that is.) But you get live performances from the likes of Rani Singam, Greg Lyons and more. And yes, free wine tasting too. Today and tomorrow, 4pm onwards, Robertson Walk. Tickets $25 ($45 for two days) at the door.
ABBA Cadabra. If you like tribute bands and you like ABBA, then you’re probably going to like this. After all, they’ve been dubbed “a tribute to the music and magic of Abba”. Until Sunday, 8pm and 3pm ( Sat and Sun), Esplanade Theatre. Tickets start at $35 from Sistic.
Rockin’ The Region: Singapore. Yup, this is all about the rockin’ young bands from Singapore. Just who are they? Well, there’s pop-rockin’ trio The Lion Story (below), My Writes, acoustic duo Cove Red and King Kong Jane. Until Sunday, 7.30pm onwards, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre. Also FOC.

- THE LION STORY: Flying the S-Pop flag well

So you see? No shortage of music. Now, if there was only enough of me to go around… Oh well.
