It was a night of cover versions.
Spent Friday night at Camp Pong, where The Karl Maka and Run Neon Tiger played a set each. It was for a Puma event and what was surprising was that they played covers. Karl Maka opted for synth-pop based tracks like Depeche Mode’s Enjoy The Silence and Pet Shop Boys’ Domino Dancing among others, while Run Neon Tiger (below) opted for indie-pop and Brit pop for theirs, covering The Clash (Rock The Casbah), The Smiths (There Is A Light That Never Goes Out) and Oasis (Live Forever).
While The Karl Maka’s choices seemed obvious, it was interesting to see Run Neon Tiger do songs that were around even before they were born. In between, Ginette Chittick blasted out tunes by Nirvana, The Verve and more. Not quite her usual Beat! stuff at Home Club.
