Newsflash: Laneway acts for Singapore announced!

NOT MANY people outside the biz know who Michael Chugg is, and that’s fine by him. He’s only the head of Chugg Entertainment, one of the biggest event production companies in Australia (and some say, Batam too). Just to set the tone: Chugg organised the now-legendary Crowd House farewell concert at the Sydney Opera House.

The key thing is that people likes the music he presents. Which for Singapore, has included gigs by Florence And The Machine and The xx, Alice Cooper and of course, the Singapore edition of the Laneway Festival. So without further ado, here are the acts that are coming down for LFS 2012.

ANNA CALVI, AUSTRA, CULTS, FEIST, GIRLS, LAURA MARLING, M83, THE DRUMS, THE HORRORS , THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART, TORO Y MOI, TWIN SHADOW, WU LYF and YUCK.

Danny Rogers, one of the co-founders of Laneway had this to say about next year’s do: “We’re extremely honoured to bring Laneway back to Singapore for a second time after a phenomenal show in January this year. Despite the crazy weather, we have never seen so many happy music lovers having the time of their lives. The 2012 event has been curated very carefully to give you a wonderful taste of the hottest live acts on the planet and we all feel genuinely thrilled by the bill we’re serving up. We can’t wait for you to see these acts live and being the last show of the entire run, we’re really going to go out wtih a proper BANG.”

Looking at the line-up, it looks like it’s going to be a big one, all right. Tickets at S$135 will only be available from Nov 28, but there’s priority booking for Visa cardholders from Nov 14.

Temper, temper!

Aussie-now-living-in-London band The Temper Trap popped over as surprise guests at the press con announcing next year’s Laneway Festival. But apparently will so much jabber on the Net about it, no one was really surprised when 987FM DJ Roz announced their names. (Actually, a lot of “see I told you” went on.)

Anyway, here are some pics from their performance at 987FM and the New Asia Bar. “This is the highest place we’ve ever played an acoustic set – 70 floors up!” they said. Then someone said, “It’s 71 floors.” There’s always someone, isn’t there?
