“Run Fatboy, Run!”-Michael Moore on why he most likely won’t be coming to Singapore
He premiered his highly anticipated, aptly-time Capitalism: A Love Story at the 66th Annual Venice Film Festival to a positive reception (even Variety called it one of Moore’s “best pics”).
But in the end, the Michelin Man of Docu- Movies lost the coveted Golden Lion (Best Picture Award) to Samuel Maoz’s hard-hitting Israeli war movie Lebanon. But don’t cry for the Big Man. The documentary didn’t leave Italy empty-handed, receiving the Leoncino d’oro Award from 26 local youths selected by the festival.
Persistently controversial with a touch of humour, Capitalism: A Love Story is typical Moore as he explores the root causes of the global economic crisis and takes a look at the corporate and political shenanigans that culminated in what he has described as “the biggest robbery in the history of this country” – the bailout ( using taxpayers’ money) from the US government to save financial private institutions.
The purposefully contentious filmmaker told reporters at the Venice Film Fest Press Conference that this film is for all the “good people who struggled, who worked hard and who have had their lives ruined” by corporate greed
Flick Chick had the chance to meet and interview the man himself ( Thanks Golden Village!
) And had to, of course, ask that all-important question. No, not how many cheeseburgers does one have to eat to get that size (just kidding lah!) But will the liberal leftist ever come to our little red dot one day?
” I would love to… but would I get arrested at the airport?” quipped the Big Friendly Giant.
Well, maybe not Mike. Especially if you’re bringing the very capitalist dollars you earned by bashing capitalism ( oh the irony!), to spend it all right here Capitalist-friendly Singapore :) Viva La Tourism!

Cute article, but tell me, in your country is everybody as disrespectful to artists and filmmakers? Moore graciously grants you an interview with you and in turn you call him fat and make cheeseburger remarks in your article. I am a bit surprised, but I am going to assume you do that with all the stars you interview.
Seen you with Larry King and just wanted to say thank you for speaking out in public so that my voice can be heard. Keep on doing what you do. Thanks Michael.
Peace Now……Brian
True Story:
Michael Moore (Film Maker?) forcing victims of Columbine – whom he pays- to confront K-Mart employees because the store sold bullets. Moore claims they only sold bullets to make money. How much money did Moore make off this movie? How much did he donate to the victims of The columbine shooting?
· Making dirt out of dust….easy.
· Pointing the finger anywhere other than where it belongs (like the shooters…..easier.
· Doing it for profit, the Amoorican way.
Made this one up:
A man walks into a liquor store that just opened. He pulls a gun and says give me 200 hundred dollars or your dead.
The Liquor store employee says “I only have a hundered and fifty since I just opened but you can have it. The man blows the liquor store employee away, gets arrested, goes to jail and ultimately is killed by a gang-banger in the prison exercise yard.
Michael Moore makes a movie showing us how the mans life could have been saved if only K-Mart didn’t sell the bullets the man loaded his gun with. Furthermore he shows us if the liquor store owner had opened with enough money to accommodate a robbery both the employee and the assailant would still be alive therefore the ultimate blame lies on the liquor store owner. K-mart stops selling bullets, the liquor store owner hangs himself. and Michael Moore makes millions……again?
The truth is:
Michael Moore makes millions off of his movies. He capitalizes on grief and hatred and heartache of others. He cares nothing for you, me or the world we live in. He cares little for what is right or wrong. The only God he worships is the almighty dollar.
Word.
