“Cut loose, Footloose…Kick off your Sunday shoes!” Flick Chick’s exclusive chat with newbie Kenny Wormald

Hey Film Fans…

The year was 1984. In cinemas around the world, people were watching a teen flick about how city kid Ren McCormack shakes up a small town where rock ‘n’ roll music and dancing have been banned.

The film’s star, Kevin Bacon, was propelled into stardom. The title track by Kenny Loggins about being footloose and kicking off your Sunday shoes spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard charts. Oh, and a boy named Kenny Wormald (picture) was born.

At age six, Wormald realised he wanted to be a dancer after attending a New Kids On The Block concert. At 18, he made it onto Madonna’s American Life music video in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-him role. At 23, he was a backup dancer on Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveShow world tour. And now, the 27-year-old is up on the silver screen playing Ren in the 2011 remake of Footloose.

Will this be Wormald’s big break like the original was for Bacon? We find out how the boy from Boston is handling the limelight.

“Sassing it with Sebastian Shaw!” Flick Chick’s interview with X-Men First Class’ Kevin Bacon

TODAY EXCLUSIVE!
Genevieve Loh at the X-MEN FIRST CLASS JUNKET in London

I, Genevieve Loh, have interviewed my fellow countryman, local actor turned Mr Hollywood Ng Chin Han, who co-starred with Gary Oldman in The Dark Knight, who starred with Kevin Bacon in Murder In The First.

And that is how I’m connected to the man who plays the nefarious Sebastian Shaw in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class – in less than six degrees of Kevin Bacon, thank you very much!

Why, we’re practically brother and sister, I wanted to say to Bacon, as I sat down with him for a one-on-one chin-wag in London where he was promoting the highly anticipated prequel to the blockbuster franchise. But first I thought I’d find out if the 52-year-old actor was sick to death of the popular six degrees of separation trivia game named after Bacon for the countless movies he’s been in (including Animal House, Footloose, A Few Good Men, Apollo 13, Mystic River – take your pick).

Click on the video below to see how it all went down!

So Mr Bacon, arguably one of the best actors of his generation never to have received an Academy Award nomination, is back on screens with his menacing portrayal of Master Villain- megalomaniacal tycoon and secret mutant Shaw, one of the greatest X-Men villains since his comic book inception three decades ago.

Suffice to say, as a big fan of Footloose ( Loose, footloose kick off your Sunday shoes!), I was super excited to meet the BACON and find out what makes him tick. Unfortch, he was more interested in finishing up our interview and teasing me about it!

Let me know your thoughts?

Till then, always remember to Snap, Crackle and POPcorn!
XOXO,

And the nemesis they have to battle is none other than Kevin Bacon as master villain Sebastian Shaw. Shaw is known as one of the greatest X-Men villains ever since his inception three decades ago.

The highly anticipated addition to the franchise charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, a time before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before best buds Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took on their famous monikers and became arch-enemies.

A recent unauthorized picture circulating the web ( seen here on  PEREZ HILTON’S BLOG ) which featured the entire group of characters (including Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost and Nicholas Hoult as Beast) decked out in costume had director Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass) all “freaked out”.

“I don’t know where the hell that came from,”  Vaughn told several movie websites.  “It’s not a pre-approved image… it didn’t reflect the movie “. He explained that the costumes worn by the characters go back to the original costumes from the Marvel comic book. “The costumes are blue and yellow as well, because f**k it, lets take it back it the original. Also, by the way, those costumes are hardly in the movie. The main costumes are like these cool 60’s James Bond…”

Like it? Love it?  Think the casting is spot on? Can’t wait to see it? Flick Chick wants to hear all your thoughts on all things X-Men First Class. So leave me a comment!
