Hey Film Fans…
The year was 1984. In cinemas around the world, people were watching a teen flick about how city kid Ren McCormack shakes up a small town where rock ‘n’ roll music and dancing have been banned.
The film’s star, Kevin Bacon, was propelled into stardom. The title track by Kenny Loggins about being footloose and kicking off your Sunday shoes spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard charts. Oh, and a boy named Kenny Wormald (picture) was born.
At age six, Wormald realised he wanted to be a dancer after attending a New Kids On The Block concert. At 18, he made it onto Madonna’s American Life music video in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-him role. At 23, he was a backup dancer on Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveShow world tour. And now, the 27-year-old is up on the silver screen playing Ren in the 2011 remake of Footloose.
Will this be Wormald’s big break like the original was for Bacon? We find out how the boy from Boston is handling the limelight.
