Hiya Film Fans,
By now you know that it is Ryan ” I am no longer Mr ScarJo” Reynolds who is the chosen one, granted that all important mystical green ring that will bestow him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron. Sounds silly? Oi! He’s a SUPERHERO, OK!
So with Ryan boy playing Hal Jordan, a.k.a Green Lantern, Gossip Girl Blake ” I may or may not be Leo’s girlfriend” Lively as Carol Ferriss, Hal’s longstanding on-again, off-again girlfriend, AND the always engaging Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, arch-nemesis of Green Lantern… are you excited?
Let me know what you guys think. Green Lantern opens in Singapore cinemas 16th June.
Till then, always remember to Snap, Crackle and POPcorn!
The inaugural ScreenSingapore was off and running with the red-carpet for the opening film The Devil Inside Me and the Opening Gala Party last night.
Director Zhang Qi and actress Anya from the film, along with Mural director Gordon Chan and cast Yan Ni, Colin Chou, Liu Yan, Xie Nan and Bao Bei-Er all stomped the carpet, to er… some sort of fanfare. Perhaps being a little, ahem, less well-known, it seemed like all the screams were saved for event ambassador Zhang Ziyi. And boy did the fans lap up her up as she strutted down the carpet on the arm of Dennis Davidson, Chairman of DDA Consulting.
The six-million dollar (or maybe eight?) question though, was, why is Ms Zhang a ScreenSingapore ambassador? Still, none of her fans seemed to care that none of her films (past, present or future) were featured in the event.
Local celebs like Edmund Chen, Irene Ang, Adrian Pang and Chua Enlai were also on hand to add to the glitz, as well as Avatar producer Jon Landau with wife Julie.
Guest-of-Honour Singapore’s Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts, Yaacob Ibrahim said in a welcoming speech: ” I am confident that ScreenSingapore will serve as a valuable platform for business and creative talent to come together to discuss ideas to to propel the growth of Asian cinema.”
This kicks off the eight day film and trade event that includes Tom Hanks coming to town on the 11th June for the Asia-Pacific Premiere of his film Larry Crowne which will close the festivities.
Excited about ScreenSingapore-widely touted as the Cannes of the East? Let me know what you think.
Till then, always remember to Snap, Crackle and POPcorn!
XOXO

TODAY EXCLUSIVE! Genevieve Loh at the X-MEN FIRST CLASS JUNKET in London
I, Genevieve Loh, have interviewed my fellow countryman, local actor turned Mr Hollywood Ng Chin Han, who co-starred with Gary Oldman in The Dark Knight, who starred with Kevin Bacon in Murder In The First.
And that is how I’m connected to the man who plays the nefarious Sebastian Shaw in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class – in less than six degrees of Kevin Bacon, thank you very much!
Why, we’re practically brother and sister, I wanted to say to Bacon, as I sat down with him for a one-on-one chin-wag in London where he was promoting the highly anticipated prequel to the blockbuster franchise. But first I thought I’d find out if the 52-year-old actor was sick to death of the popular six degrees of separation trivia game named after Bacon for the countless movies he’s been in (including Animal House, Footloose, A Few Good Men, Apollo 13, Mystic River – take your pick).
Click on the video below to see how it all went down!
So Mr Bacon, arguably one of the best actors of his generation never to have received an Academy Award nomination, is back on screens with his menacing portrayal of Master Villain- megalomaniacal tycoon and secret mutant Shaw, one of the greatest X-Men villains since his comic book inception three decades ago.
Suffice to say, as a big fan of Footloose ( Loose, footloose kick off your Sunday shoes!), I was super excited to meet the BACON and find out what makes him tick. Unfortch, he was more interested in finishing up our interview and teasing me about it!

TODAY EXCLUSIVE! Genevieve Loh at the X-MEN FIRST CLASS JUNKET in London
Hey Film Fans, check out my one on one interview with January Jones below!
She wasn’t physically at the London media junket for (erm) one obvious big protruding reason, BUT, we got to chit chat over a satellite interview nonetheless.
Jomes plays the sexy urbane, mutant telepath Frost who’s well-known for her dry wit and revealing white attire. You bringing Sexy Back to the X-Men, eh White Queen? But for all the hoopla over Emma Frost’s “to-die-for” body, it is the baby bump that everyone wants to talk about. So far though, January has been keeping MUM (geddit geddit? Ok bad again ) about it all, and absolutely refuses to reveal who the Baby Daddy is. Whispers of X-Men: First Class’ director Matthew Vaughn being a very… erm.. possible candidate fluttered everywhere amongst gossipy journos during the junket ( which he was noticeably absent from), but as you already know, there has been no confirmation and absolute fervent denial.
Well, we’ll just have to wait and see what wifey Claudia Schiffer says in upcoming months…
