Improving estate management, providing more sports and recreational facilities, building more local markets and improving access for the disabled.
These are some of RP’s plans for West Coast GRC unveiled, this morning, at a press conference held at their office at Smith Street in Chinatown.
Titled ‘Rejuvenate, Revitalise, Reintegrate’, the five-year plan includes specific plans for each ward in the GRC.
RP secretary-general, Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam has also promised to move to the GRC if his team is elected.
Party chairman, Mr Andy Zhu noted that the wards in the GRC, which include Boon Lay and Telok Blangah, are currently managed in an “uneven” way, some with fewer facilities than others.
His team will introduce a community fund to help needy residents, and investigate the impact of competition – or lack thereof- on wet market prices.
The team also wants to start an information referral centre for residents, as well as legal and networking clinics for residents.
The five-year plan includes the building of cycling lanes, more gardening plots, and better management of cleaning contractors in Boon Lay.
RP’s Ang Mo Kio GRC candidate, Mr Alex Tan also said at the press conference that his team’s plans for Ang Mo Kio include a 24-hour centre for the needy, and more covered walkways to link the various amenities.
