Independent candidate Ooi Boon Ewe frantic

Independent candidate for Sengkang West SMC, Mr Ooi Boon Ewe is missing an assentor and frantically trying to get someone before the noon deadline. He said someone was supposed to turn up but was a no-show.

“Sengkang West! My people are supposed to be here, but I don’t know where they are!” he was quoted as saying.

With his departure, there will not be a three-cornered fight for Sengkang West SMC.

Mr Ooi is seen going up to strangers and asking if they live in the Sengkang-Ponggol estates and if they’d support him. He seems visibly agitated.

He has since entered the Nomination hall as deadline closes.

Remove the Goods and Services Tax on rice, flour and sugar. Petrol and diesel prices should be government-controlled. Bring back trial by jury.
