The English Premier League is celebrating 20 seasons of existence and have published what they believe to be the top 10 goals scored so far.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier is the only player appearing twice, whilst the likes of Tony Yeboah, David Beckham, Eric Cantona, Paolo Di Canio, Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney all make an appearance.

Here are the videos of the goals, and if you want to vote for your favourite, just visit http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/20-seasons.html

Premier League Team of the Week

Another round of Premier League matches has been completed, but for once, that does not seem to matter.

Gary Speed’s passing has entirely overshadowed the weekend’s action. He was a gifted footballer, often under-appreciated, a promising manager and, from the words of everyone who knew him, a truly great man.

Nonetheless the weekend’s action was of as high a quality as ever, and there were some big fixtures played and some big names ending the weekend with disappointing results.

This week we take a break from tradition and line up our Team of The Week in a traditional 4-4-2 formation. Do you agree with our picks? Continue reading ‘Premier League Team of the Week’

Premier League Team of the Week

The Premier League is never short of competitive and exciting matches, and this weekend’s fixtures did not disappoint.

There was an incredible 3-3 draw as Blackburn met Wigan, three goal-line clearances at Norwich against Arsenal, including an awe-inspiring flying block, and a fantastic run and finish from a player playing against his old club as Chelsea and Liverpool met.

With all that, and much more, here’s a look at the team of the week, which lines up in an unconventional 4-2-4 formation. Continue reading ‘Premier League Team of the Week’

Premier League Team of the Week

After weeks of domination for the Manchester clubs in the Premier League this season, north London’s finest turned on the style over the weekend to send out a message to their fellow top-four contenders.

In one of the most entertaining matches we are likely to see this season, Arsenal stunned Chelsea by running out 5-3 winners at Stamford Bridge, while Tottenham extended their unbeaten run to 11 games with a 3-1 victory over QPR.

So, here is this week’s Premier League Team of the Week, lined up in a very conservative 4-4-2 formation. Continue reading ‘Premier League Team of the Week’

Premier League Team of the Week

September is drawing to a close, and the early contenders for the Premier League title are now well and truly apparent.

Manchester United may have lost their perfect record over the weekend at Stoke but still remain top although the likes of noisy neighbours Manchester City and Chelsea are breathing down their necks.

But with Spurs and Liverpool regaining momentum, this season looks like it’s going to be an exciting one although it is highly likely our Team of the Weeks will mostly feature players from teams at the top.

This week, it’s a boring, yet effective 4-4-2 formation. Continue reading ‘Premier League Team of the Week’

Premier League team of the Week

Just when Arsenal fans thought things could not get any worse following their defensive horror show at Blackburn Rovers, north London rivals Tottenham go and put four past Liverpool.

So impressive were Spurs – albeit against nine men – after an indifferent start to the season, that they boast no fewer than four players in this week’s Team of the Week.

As usual, we have a very unbalanced side which includes seven attackers and three defenders in a 3-4-3 formation.

Where’s the fun in naming the week’s top players if it isn’t a team filled with goals? Continue reading ‘Premier League team of the Week’

Team of the week

It was goals galore this weekend and Team of the Week pays tribute to the attackers who keep us on the edge of the seat with their trickery, finesse and ruthlessness in front of goal.

Only two defenders make the Team of the Week and neither of them from Arsenal. Needless to say, it’s the Manchester clubs who dominate this week’s list but Liverpool’s Charlie Adam steals the show with his third straight appearance as one of the week’s top 11 players. Premier League preview: Arsenal

Predicted finish: 5th

It has not been all doom and gloom for Arsenal this summer. Jack Wilshere seems perfectly happy to continue playing for the club and the return of Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelan should provide the Gunners with the calming influence at the back they sorely missed last season.

New signing Gervinho also impressed during pre-season and might follow in the footsteps of Patrick Vieira and Nicolas Anelka to become another classic Arsene Wenger bargain.

Unfortunately that is where the good news ends. Continue reading ‘Premier League preview: Arsenal’
