Greetings and salutations, fellow star gazers! This is May Seah, your Showbiz Sista, informing you that today, we turn our attention to gazing at hot girls!
This year’s incarnation of the FHM Girl Next Door competition is known as the FHM Super Seven Models 2010 competition. Seven finalists are vying for the top prize of $2,500 as well as the cover shoot for the coveted FHM August issue. The winner will be announced on June 26 at the World Cup Festival 2010 at Siloso Beach.
Lest you think that models are pretty little trophy airheads, here are four lessons we could all learn from Sharmaine Toh, 21, Zi Yi Kuek, 20, Sheila Sandya, 20, and Jasmine Li, 26—just four of the seven finalists.

HOW TO BE A POWER WOMAN
Sharmaine: I joined this competition so that I know how to carry myself in a way that makes me and my family and friends proud. (I hope to) show people we are not some kind of slutty, brainless girl. There is a postive quality in being an FHM girl: An innate confidence. We are all settled in our own skin. That’s why we dare to walk into a restaurant wearing a six-inch top when everyone is fully dressed. Yet when you speak to us we are not brainless; we have our own ideas and views of the world.
HOW TO BE SPORTY AND SEXY
Ziyi: I’m very different from the rest of the girls in a way that I’m very athletic. I represent Singapore for inline skating. The perception is that girls who are models are not as strong; they are quite bimbotic and quite weak. And scream at every little thing. They feel that I do not look like I can skate because I seem to be scared of pain and scared of extreme sports. Not all girls are like that.
HOW TO SPICE UP YOUR LIFE
Sheila: I went to my ex-boyfriend’s house wearing just a coat and boots. When he opened the door I was like, ‘Ta-daa!’ Inside the coat, I was wearing only lingerie.
HOW TO GET A GUY’S ATTENTION
Jasmine: There was a really cute guy at a bar. A lot of girls were flocking around him. One of my friends said, ‘Hey Jasmine, if you can get his number for me, I’ll buy you a bottle of vodka.’ I’m a spontaneous person. I can tie a knot in a cherry stem with my tongue in ten seconds. So I put a cherry stem in my mouth. While I walked over, I was tying the knot. I just walked up to him, stared into his eyes, took his hand and deposited the stem into it. Then I just walked away. Ten steps later, he came tapping on my shoulder. He said, ‘Can I buy you a drink?’
