Greetings and salutations, fellow stargazers! This is your Showbiz Sista, helpfully gazing at the chests of Michelle Chong and Vivian Lai on your behalf. That’s gazing, not leering, FYI. These dolls are the hosts of Ladies’ Nite, a new 90-minute-long variety show airing tonight on MediaCorp TV Channel U as part of the channel’s 10-year anniversary celebrations.
Showbiz Sista dropped by when they were filming an episode about bras, corsets and girdles – which Michelle and Vivian were obviously not shy to discuss — together with guest stars Ericia Lee, Cynthia Koh, Xiang Yun and Constance Song.
Michelle’s a little sleepy, though.
“The topics we discuss include beauty, health, fashion, trends – we talk about anything and everything,” Vivian said. “We have discussions with experts, and everyone puts in their two cents’ worth. Then we realise that we’re doing a lot of things wrong. So, you’ll learn things from our show, which will enable you to become a more confident woman.”
Vivian reveals the secret behind her ample chest — chicken fillets.
But wait, isn’t a bra just an instrument of male oppression? Nah, Michelle says. “I know they say it’s because they want to oppress us, they want to bind us and they want our breasts to look nice, but actually, it’s really about ourselves. Who wants their breasts to sag, right?”
Ericia sure doesn’t need a push-up bra.
Michelle added, “One of the segments is that we have a good-looking guy cooking three dishes and one dessert for us — a complete meal. Tay Ping Hui is one of them. That segment is quite fun too. And they’re all good-looking men. But not all single. It’s hard to find good-looking single men these days who can cook.”
Vivian summed it up: “Watch this show with a cup of tea and a snack, and you’ll feel like you’re having afternoon tea with your best girlfriends.”
