Greetings and salutations, fellow stargazers! This is your Showbiz Sista, already gearing up for Chinese New Year with the upcoming reunions-and-red-packets themed drama, Prosperity.

It’s a feel-good, family-centric show about three very different sisters. At the centre of the drama is Hong Huifang, who plays a loving mother who has opened her home to countless foster children. “I’ve never played such a good good guy before,” Huifang commented with a laugh.

Her birth children are Tracy Lee and Andie Chen—who plays the biggest geek alive. “I was wondering how I had managed to land the lead role, and then I looked at the script and realised it was a hideous lead role,” Andie joked. Touche!
His character meets and falls in love with a restaurant owner, played by Tiffany Leong. “When she first meets him, she thinks he’s silly and nerdy, but later she discovers he’s kind of nice,” Tiffany said. “Every time she saw me in costume, she’d remind me that she could never be with such a nerdy guy,” Andie teased.

The second sister, played by Aileen Tan, is a mercenary braggart who looks down on the less wealthy, including her own sisters, and can’t imagine why anyone would want to open their home to foster children. Rebecca Lim plays her daughter, who is also a spoilt brat. Rebecca and Tracy vie for the attentions of a classmate, played by Yuan Shuai.

The youngest sister is played by Priscelia Chan. She’s disgruntled with being looked down on by Aileen and nags her cash-strapped husband (played by Terence Cao) into buying a condominium that isn’t within their means. “As filming went on, I felt more and more auntie!” Priscelia complained. Especially since she and Terence were also playing the parents of two teenaged boys—which Terence had a hard time getting his head around. “To women, he’s the world’s best husband. He’d give his wife the moon,” Terence explained. “But I think he’s the world’s most useless husband. You’ll never catch me acting that way!”
