Greetings and salutations, fellow star gazers! This is your Showbiz Sista with a shoutout for the upcoming President’s Star Charity 2011, coming up at the end of this month.
To be hosted by Glenda Chong, Gurmit Singh and Soo Kui Jien, this year’s show will benefit 28 different charity organisations. At a press conference today, some of the stars involved turned up for a short introduction.
Here are some of them.
15-year-old Julia Abueva will perform. “If you’re given a talent, you have to give back,” she said. Generous words.
A whole bunch of people will be performing Rose Rose I Love You and Ding Dong, including Pat Mok, Kym Ng, Belinda Lee and Stephanie Carrington…
… Paul Foster, Adam Chen, Zhang Yaodong and Pierre Png. As well as Xiang Yun, Huang Wenyong, Adeline Lim, Sora Ma and Alaric Tay.
“I’m going to take extra lessons on the side!” Pierre said.
“She cannot dance — her legs are so short!” said Pat, very meanly, about Kym.
Sylvia Ratonel will be performing Girls Rock together with EVE and Tabitha Nauser (who didn’t show up).
In addition, Gurmit Singh, Hossan Leong, Sheikh Haikel and Daren Tan will be performing a “four-chord medley” — “35 songs in five minutes!” Gurmit said — and Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza will be doing a Man In The Mirror duet.
Special guests stars will be flying in, too: Chris Medina of American Idol fame and pop-classical boy vocal group, Il Volo.
Catch the Presidents’ Star Charity 2011 on July 31 at 7.30pm on MediaCorp TV Channel 5. Showbiz Sista, signing out. Live long and pop corn!
