Lytro camera to hit Singapore ‘starting mid-October’

The wait might soon be over for photography enthusiasts who have been waiting for the Lytro light field camera to come to Singapore – the official Lytro website has announced that the camera will hit retail stores in Singapore “starting mid-October”.

Previously, those who wanted to get their hands on the Lytro had to order them online – and the online store only shipped within the US. Lytro’s announcement in a blog post today marks the first time that their cameras, which allow you to focus on any point in a photo after the shot was taken, will be available in brick-and-mortar stores both in the US and internationally. Tech blog The Verge has also reported that the camera will be available with retail partners in Canada, Australia and Hong Kong, on top of Singapore.

First announced last year and released earlier this year, the Lytro camera marked a huge jump in photography technology with its new light field sensor, which allows users to take photos without needing to focus as every point in the photo is a focal point.

Interested to try out the Lytro in stores? Stay tuned for when the official release date and prices are announced, or check out our hands-on video above.
