A video of what is claimed to be a woolly mammoth traversing a river in a remote part of Siberia surfaced this week – which is unusual, seeings how wooly mammoths have been extinct for over 4000 years.
Another video has surfaced of the ‘Icelandic Worm’, a legendary sea monster thought to be either a prehistoric reptile or giant water snake.
Both are examples of ‘Cryptids’ (from the Greek ‘krypto’, meaning ‘hidden’), which are animals or plants whose existence has been suggested, but who are not recognised by contemporary science.
